Thought for the day: If you cannot safely and effectively lead your horse on the ground, why would you get on its back? If you cannot ask your horse to walk, trot, canter, stop, back, turn on the haunches and forehand, turn right and left, bend, side-pass, go over/through obstacles and jumps and get a soft feel from the GROUND at all times and in any situation, have you, as a rider, taken the time to PREPARE your horse to do those things under saddle? Does all that sound like a lot to you? Think about how your horse feels when suddenly asked to do that with no preparation plus the weight of a saddle and rider on its back.
