Thought for the day: Prophecy number sixteen of forty five That Jesus would be filled with God’s Spirit Psalms 45:7 7 You love righteousness and hate wickedness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of gladness more than Your companions. NKJV Isaiah 11:2 2 The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord. NKJV Isaiah 61:1-2 61 "The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, Because the Lord has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; 2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, NKJV I wonder how many of us have the Spirit of the Lord on us. I also wonder how many of us claim to have the Spirit of the Lord on us and yet we continue to drag Him through the mud day after day. Luke 4:18-19 18 "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; 19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord." NKJV I can remember one time in my life that I was really down hearted I mean my world as a minister had really been rocked. I guess you could say my wind had not only gone out of my sails but that my boat had been over turned and capsized. I really was ready to just turn in and call it quits. When another minister one I will say I consider not just a friend but a good friend sent me this verse. He was quick to remind me that it was not about me and how I felt. It was about the poor, the brokenhearted, the captives, and the blind. That it was not about me feeling good but I was called to serve others not self. When he sent me these verse’s it hit my like a ton of bricks that it was time for me to put self aside and serve not expect a good feeling what I done, but to serve. You know so many times we can let our feelings get in the way of our service or calling. We get hurt or we do not get treated how we think we should. Something happens and we throw our hands up in the air. Remember the same people that Jesus ministered to are the same people that crucified Him and also the same people He died for. Wow now if that don’t rock your world I don’t know what will. My question is this. Are you doing what God has called you to do? Or are you giving excuses and accepting excuses why you can not fulfill your calling. Now I am not just talking about a pulpit with AC and carpet in a big church. No I mean have you given way to your calling. You see if we are born again believers then the Spirit of the Lord should be upon us. If the Spirit is upon us what are we doing with Him. Are we doing what the Bibles says we should do. Are we feeding the poor, are we taking the gospel to the poor. The poor in spirit the one who just doesn’t seem to understand like we do are we ministering to the poor or just the ones who can afford to come in our church doors. Are we healing the brokenhearted by showing them the grace and mercy and love of God Jesus Christ or are we just walking away or tuning our backs. When was the last time you visited someone that was so lost in their sins that they couldn’t see the light because they were so far in the dark. When was the last time you took a hold of a blind persons hand and helped them to make sure they didn’t fall in a ditch. I am not talking about someone that is physically blind I am talking about someone who is spiritually blind. They don’t believe in God they can’t find God they do not feel like God exist. When was the last time you showed a non=believer that God does exist. You see we all have a calling a calling to serve, not just each others. I think the Lord says in Matthew 5:46-47 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? NKJV When was the last time you filled the Spirit that the Lord has put upon you?
