Thought for the day Prophecy number three Genesis 49:10 10 The scepter shall not depart from Judah, Nor a lawgiver from between his feet, Until Shiloh comes; And to Him shall be the obedience of the people. NKJV I am sure they are some who can explain this a lot better than I can but I do feel led to give it my best shot. A scepter is a rod that is usually held by a man in authority such as a king. We can read several places that it was used as someone of authority giving someone else permission. However, I think the most important part is that we do not need to understand the scepter but that it will be given to some one in the tribe of Judah and when it is given to Him it will never depart. That the scepter here talked about is a one possession only. That once it is handed down it will never be handed to anyone else. When God gave Jesus all authority of Heaven and Earth it will never be passed on, Jesus is King of kings, Lord of lord, Alpha and Omega the First and the Last. Now let us look at this prophecy being fulfilled in the New Testament. Hebrews 7:14 14 For it is evident that our Lord arose from Judah, of which tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning priesthood. NKJV Revelation 5:5 5 But one of the elders said to me, "Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals." NKJV These two verses let us know besides the lineage of Jesus being traced back to Abraham that now we also know that He has come through the blood line of Judah. Now there is something else here I would like for us to understand the Lion. The lion is a symbol of authority, power, strength, this is probably where we get the saying that the lion is king of the jungle. We need to understand that the first time Jesus came to Earth for people that He came as a Lamb as Servant of God as a sacrifice for the world but the next time He will come as a Lion not a lamb. He will come as a King not a Servant. He will come as a ruler, conquer, with authority, with power and might, not as a sacrifice but as a judge.
