Thought for the day… Will eating white rice, white potato or white pasta hurt your fat loss efforts? No... Guess what… When fat loss is the goal, opting for only low GI carb sources (brown rice, sweet potato or wholemeal pasta) in favour of higher GI sources such as white rice, potato or pasta will neither hinder nor benefit the rate at which you lose fat… At the end of the day, provided the food sources you eat are of equal calories/macronutrients (protein, carbohydrates and fat), there is no inherent benefit in eating sweet potato instead of white potato, wholemeal pasta instead of white pasta or brown rice instead of white rice… Always remember, the amount of food you eat (total calories) will dictate how much fat you lose! The type of food you eat is important, but a remains a distant second in the fat loss hierarchy! Not to mention the usefulness of the Glycemic index is questionable at best! Personal preference should always dictate your food choices, as it is pivotal to maintaining your nutritional compliance… So if you enjoy eating white rice, go for your life… Your belly fat will know no different provided you are at a calorie deficit!
