Thought for the day ... or week or month depending on how important you feel the topic is. I often wonder about the impact we have on the locations we investigate - especially the places that host many teams/groups. I should clarify ... I am first thinking about the impact on the spirits that are present (if any) and my second consideration would be on families that have asked for help and the third would be the location. With as many teams that come and go at the more popular and public locations, and the different energy carried by every individual along with the varying techniques and method used ... would there not be an affect? And what about the private residential investigations? Looking at those where the family may not feel they were helped by one team and then calling in a second and a third - one team using seance and another pulling out the infamous Ouija board and then another provoking, each method changes the energy of a place. This being said, would it then not change the attitude of any spirits who are there? I dont believe that most people know how to choose the right team for them and the type of assistance they may be in need of because most people do not live in a manner that keeps them connected to the paranormal field. The general public do not have enough knowledge, experience or know-how to make the best choice for them and so it is then up to the professionals in the field to help them. For our team, we look at the cases very carefully to determine the right course of action. Some cases need just one investigation to determine what the next course of action should be. Others need at least two - one preliminary and more information gathering and, the second,, being more tactical and strategic ... with a final conclusion to further action needed. And then again, there will be those that are even more difficult that will need ongoing care. There will also be situations that, for the welfare of the family, outside help will need to be brought in. Knowing when to do this is a matter of knowing your teams limitations and understanding that, in certain areas and situations, there is someone out there with more knowledge and experience to deal with the problem. But when going into a location that has absorbed so much stuff from other investigative teams ... it can be difficult to determine what the initial activity was, what the trigger of that activity was and what spirits were there first. I would think that you would fast learn that many spirits are now present that were pulled to the location or summoned and released there and they will most likely not be happy about that. Anyway - it is something that I think of quite often - how we not only affect the living but also those who have died, the land we walk and the buildings we enter. And I guess I think about this because I do not want to be one that goes around playing and experimenting with peoples lives - past and present.
