Thought for today! A small rudder on a huge ship in the hands of a skilled captain sets a course in the face of the strongest winds. A word out of your mouth may seem of no account, but it can accomplish nearly anything—or destroy it! It only takes a spark, remember, to set off a forest fire. A careless or wrongly placed word out of your mouth can do that. By our speech we can ruin the world, turn harmony to chaos, throw mud on a reputation - James 3:3-6 (MSG) So, Where am I steering with my words? What do I build (or tear down), with the words I say? We have the amazing opportunity to be builders with our words, but unfortunately, the same hammer that builds, can tear down. So my challenge to myself this week is, before I speak, especially when Im mad, I need to stop and say to myself; Is it true? Is it necessary? Am I speaking out of love? Because until I can answer all of those three questions yes maybe I shouldnt be saying anything. I dont always have to speak. I can let my heavenly father look after the things I am not equipped to handle with love and grace. I can do the best I can, and maybe keep my mouth shut (even though I may think my wisdom is sorely needed) My words are powerful, especially as a daughter of the king of heaven, and I need to be careful what I create with what I say! -Charlie
