Thought of the Day: “For you died” This is from the beginning of Colossians 3:3. Years ago when I was angry with some people because they hurt me, they were in the wrong. I wanted to be vindicated. I wanted what was right. I wanted justice to be done. I wanted them to admit there wrong. I wanted everyone to know I was in the right. Did you notice those two ugly words? “I WANTED.” My whole life was being affected. I subconsciously was being consumed by wanting what was right/justice. I had lost my peace, my joy, I was irritable, cranky, my responses to simply questions or comments were laced with sarcasm, frustration, I didn’t have grace for anyone. When I prayed it seemed like heaven was not open. I was miserable and that was the atmosphere I carried (we can created atmospheres). I was in the right!!! I had been wronged. I wanted it made right. Then one day I heard so clearly – DEAD MEN DON’T HAVE RIGHT. I then heard if you hold onto your earthly rights you can’t enjoy your heavily rights. It didn’t take me a second to realize what I had been missing out on. Right then and there I repented… I was released from this cloud sitting on and over me – I was free. Within minutes the scripture came to my mind “Let my vindication come from Your presence” Psalm 17:2. Oh wow vindication would come from God and He would do a much better job than I could. It was no longer something I was to be concerned with and it was no longer even a desire to be vindicated. I no longer wanted justice. As I clung to my old man rights I was not able (neither can you) to receive all the rights, blessings and privileges of a man whose life was now hidden in Christ (part b of Colossians 3:3). “FOR YOU DIED”
