Thought of the Day: Gleaning For most of us we have discovered that there are seasons in God both spiritually and financially. Seasons of abundance and seasons when things are lean It is so important that as Paul said “for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content” Philippians 4:10 Notice he said it was something he learned. Not always an easy lesson because when we are in a place we don’t like we spend most of our time looking for a way out and in the mean time miss what the Spirit is trying to show us. This is where we need the “spirit of Ruth”. Remember Ruth would go and glean and gather vegetables that were left behind in the fields during the time of harvest. Ruth 2:3 “Then she left, and went and gleaned in the field after the reapers.” Like Ruth we need to learn how to glean and gather in times of leanness. All too often are attitude prohibits us from gleaning what we are to learn. It often prolongs the season and when we do not gain all that we were suppose to glean we are released from the season only to return to it to glean what we missed the first time. We have heard it said “our attitude affects our altitude.” Oh our attitude effects others around us. It was in this field owned by Boaz that Ruth stepped into her destiny. It was her heart and attitude that got the attention of Boaz and because of her right spirit God provided so much more than she could have ever dreamed. Verse 4 “And Boaz answered and said to her, “It has been fully reported to me, all that you have done.” If she had a wrong attitude/spirit what would have been reported to Boaz? The children of Israel spent most of their time “whining and complaining” in the wilderness. So whose attitude do we have? In gleaning with a right heart we will be rewarded (read Ruth).
