Thought of the Day... Greetings everyone both near and far. I pray this finds you doing well. Recently, including even in our own church service this past weekend, Ive seen a number of posts that show a kitten staring at mirror and a lion stares back at the kitten, which has a meaning similar to this is how God sees you. And this is not without truth because how we view ourselves is often not how God views us. But the problem comes from this approach as one that often gives a false understanding of one thing, surrender. You see, what God sees in us, is our true self, underneath all of the surface layer of stuff - the anger, hurt, disappointment and even worse, pride, envy and ego. And how God sees us, is truly how God desires us to become. The best analogy I can give for this was when I was previously in the Navy and stationed on a command ship (USS Mt Whitney). We stopped in some great ports during that 18 months I was on the ship and to look at our ship you would think it was a grand pristine vessel fit for the Naval admirals and Marine generals that had berthing options on that ship. But often times you could go around and see sections where there were 5, 7, even 10 layers of old paint that sooner or later made its way back to the surface. And it wasnt until someone or some crew realized this and stopped and took all that excess layers off, down to the bare metal and then repainted that section that a new glow, a new appearance really shown through. Often times we can go into this Christian walk with only letting go of part of what we brought to Christ and then hold on to our weaknesses and attempt to cover up the remaining layers of paint in our lives with the new paint of Christian life, only to one day truly realize that until we stop, look at who and what we are in the mirror, past all the hallelujahs, the hymns of praise we sing for that 60 minutes on Sunday, those weaknesses and stuff inside of us and start to address them, to shed those layers of what covers all of this up, we shall never truly begin to become that lion or tiger that God sees inside each one of us. Paul wrote in his letter to the church in Ephesus For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. (Ephesians 2:10) The problem with all of this, is that His workmanship is covered up by our life, our actions in this life to this point, often inside AND out. The following video (run time 11:34) offers an interesting look at this very topic - giving ourselves to our Father, once and for all, completely and fully. Because until we let go of who we have become, we shall never truly see ourselves as who and what God sees us. May our Father truly bless you beyond all your expectations!!
