Thought of the Day: There are open doors I am sitting here crying and I am wondering why in the world am I crying? Then I realize it’s not me crying at all but the Holy Spirit in me is crying. He’s crying because either we do not see the open door or we are not understanding the significance of the door being open. • Acts 16:26 “Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed.” Yes I know that this is about Paul and Silas when they were thrown into the lowest of dungeons after they had been beaten. Do you know the key to the earthquake and the loosening of every chains? Now picture this they have been serenely beaten and their response was Acts 16:25 “at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God.” It challenges me to see how I respond to being hurt (offended). Perhaps if we prayed and worshipped before reacting or responding we perhaps would do, say or feel would be quite differently than our normal response. For all of us every prison cell door has been opened and “everyone’s chains were loosed.” I can hear shackles falling to the floor and there is this voice saying you are free. With tears in the messenger’s eyes he said “this is your inheritance.” There is another reason for the open door – its intimacy and prophetic revelation: • Revelation 4:1 “After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.” This open door led to worship with the twenty-four elders – Imagine an open door into heavenly worship. The third reason for the open doors is for the word of God to be spread: • Colossians 4:3 (NLV) “As you pray, be sure to pray for us also. Pray that God will open the door for us to preach the Word.” The truth is if the first door isn’t open then what are the chances we will experience seeing the other doors open? There are open doors!!!
