Thought of the day... Defamation of Character; The act of making untrue statements about another which damages his/her reputation. If the defamatory statement is printed or broadcast over the media it is libel and, if only oral, it is slander.. That definition comes from an online legal dictionary. Id recommend thinking it through very thoroughly before you post things on social media sites if you do not have facts carved in granite. You can easily tarnish a reputation, and convict someone in a court of Facebook opinion because a lot of people eat that stuff up.. However, you may also find yourself served, and in an actual courthouse made of bricks and mortar, with laws and everything... And you have to hire an attorney to get your ass out of a sling that your mouth put you into. Keep in mind that Attorneys dont work for free, and a judgement can take a long time to pay off..
