Thought this story would go well with the group. Here is one of my Dad (Marty Kelly Jr) last race cars. The Dirt Modified coupe class still runs today at Bear Ridge as sort of a vintage division (leaf sprung cars only) but newer chassis. My dad raced this division two years, with the same car. The first year in 1998 it was the yellow X, A butch Jelley tribute paint scheme. Then, in 1999 it was given a new look. Dads usual number was 21 but the number was occupied in 99 so he went with the sharp looking 3D instead. Halfway through the season one night during a feature at the Bear Ridge speedway, The competitor on the inside ran over Dads left front, sending him in to the 4th turn wall. The car was destryoed completely in the front end. It sat in the elements for many years until it was sold for parts. I race too, go karts and slingshots and for the 2014 season we revived the classic look of the 3D.
