Thought to Share this...FYI FYI..... Date: Mon, 28 Oct 2013 19:03:17 -0700 Subject: Complaints against police misconduct! It has come to the attention of police that a number of complaints from members of the public in the National Capital District against police have been poorly attended to in some cases and in some not attended at all. The RPNGC is serious about discipline and is committed to taking action against undisciplined, abusive and corrupt policemen and policewomen. But we need your help to identify such rogue elements. Should you come across police personnel who are acting illegally or being abusive you are required to take note of the following: 1. Identify the policeman. Members of the Constabulary would normally have a name tag on their uniforms. If they dont have any visible form of identification then ask for their names. If they refuse then take note of their features and make sure you can identify them later when required to. If you can discretely photograph them with your mobile telephone that will help; 2. Take note of the registration of the vehicle they are driving. Also note the make, model, colour and other features. If you can take a picture of their vehicle then please do so as well. Immediately after the encounter you should write down your complaint. Get witnesses to also make their statements. If as a result of your encounter with the police you were assaulted then get a medical report of your injuries and take pictures as well. If property has been damaged then get photographs as well. Get a professional opinion on the cost of the damages to your property. Write your letter of complaint about the police brutality / abuse / illegal actions / etc., and address your letter to the following address: Police Public Complaints Six Mile Police Station Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary P. O. Box 1910 BOROKO National Capital District. Many members of the public have complained that they have lodged complaints with the Six Mile Public Complaints but no action has been taken. So to ensure that action will be taken and that there is follow-up, please copy your complaint to the following offices listed below as well. The Police Internal Affairs Unit will closely follow the complaint to ensure that action is taken on the rogue members: 1. Superintendent Andy Bawa Metsup NCD Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary P. O. Box 1910 Boroko NCD. (Deliver to Boroko Police Station) 2. Assistant Commissioner Jim Andrews Commander NCD/Central Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary P. O. Box 1910 Boroko NCD. (Deliver to Police Headquaters, Konedobu) Please note that we can only take action if you take action and begin the process by making an official complaint against bad elements of the Constabulary. Writing letters to the newspapers or posting on the blog sites or internet will not help anyone at all. So please help us to help you. Thank you. -- Superintendent Dominic D.
