Thoughts From Normalville - If its good for Lennon... We have an immigration battle going on, which Republicans are framing as a shredding of the Constitution. As we know, Republicans never get it right. Lets go back to the 70s when John Lennon, tried to establish a home in NYC, the Nixon Administration went after him as an undesirable, because he had a couple of marijuana busts on his record from England. They tried to have him deported, along with wife Yoko Ono. Ono was eventually granted permission to stay, but fears of what Lennon meant to the anti-war movement made him dangerous to the power structure. Bottom line, Lennon won through a deferred action. This is exactly the tactic Obama is going to use in the current immigration affair. It is not new. it is Constitutional. It shreds nothing. It is lawful. As I wrote yesterday, even Obamas Executive Orders arent anything different or with more impact than Reagan and GHWB did in the 80s and 90s. In fact, GHWBs action was later passed into law so it wouldnt expire. But, if you enjoy watching Republicans heads explode, then this is your issue. You will see all manner of graphics (Your Republican FB friends cannot post their own thoughts) telling us how this is imperialism and demagoguery, but you will know better. Just keep egging them on, though, until 2016. That will get us the White House for 4 more years, easily. And the turnout might jump so high that we sweep out some of the crazier righties in the House. The Senate is not going to be too big an issue that year. Then lets see if the Republicans accept the public mandate after that election. They sure are asshats, arent they? They never affirm the results unless it goes their way. If it doesnt, they cry and drone on like grounded teenagers.
