Thoughts at the Prayer vigil honoring the father of my good friend - TopicsExpress

Thoughts at the Prayer vigil honoring the father of my good friend Julius Buccat . . . Oh yah, last Friday I was rushing to go to Cypress Memorial to attend the wake of my friend’s dad . . . Oops the wake was last Thursday but was graciously informed that there is a prayer vigil at 7:00 pm at Saint Cecilia’s Church in San Francisco. It was such a relief to learn about the scheduled vigil otherwise I will be haunted with guilt. It was such a solemn vigil, and a rosary was prayed led by Father Lim, the church pastor. Before the services commenced I was able to mingle with the rest of the family whom I knew since they were all my former co-workers. I was really surprised to learn that their dad lived such lengthy life at 93. Just to inject humor, I told the three brothers they will have a long life like their dad who has good genes. Then the services started and the songs played were so beautiful so haunting that they pierced the soul. Who wouldn’t with the keyboard interpretation of the song “Tanging Yaman” by my friend’s brother in law. I first heard this song while watching a Pilipino teleserye. You can’t help but be emotional, and tears will simply find their way oozing down your cheeks. As I learned, the song has great depth . . . It was about family, relationships and values. It talks about our Saviour, our God and our all. Below is the lyrics of the song along with the English translation . . . Tanging Yaman (My Only Treasure) Ikaw ang aking Tanging Yaman (You are my only treasure) Na di lubasang masumpungan (Which I cannot fully comprehend) Ang nilikha mong kariktan (The loveliness you created) Sulyap ng yong kagandahan (A view of your beauty) Ikay hanap sa twina, nitong pusong (My heart longs for you) Ikaw lamang ang saya (You are my only joy) Sa ganda ng umaga, (In the beauty of the morning) Nangungulila sayo sinta (I long for you) Ikay hanap sa twina, (I always search for you) Sa kapwa ko kita laging nadarama (In my fellow, I always feel you) Sa iyong mga likha, (With your creations) Hangad pa ring masdan ang yong mukha (I still long to see your face) There were other songs played which are equally pleasing. PS: For some reasons I lost touch of my good friend Julius since I retired almost 4 years now. Before the end of the services we got connected though FB and was able to post on his wall and this time I wrote just a few words only to say: “ Why does it have to be in an occasion like this that we have to be reunited? It was meant to be, it happened for a reason. Now the more I will not forget to memorialize our friendship again thru the medium of FB. May you take comfort in knowing an angel is watching over you. I know that no words can help ease the pain and loss that you are feeling right now. You are in my every prayer and thought. Peace!” Julius, could be that this is what you whispered to your . . . “Until We Meet Again” We think about you always, we talk about you still, you have never been forgotten, Dad and you never will. We hold you close within our hearts, and there you will remain, To walk and guide us through our lives until we meet again. Joegar
