Thoughts for Thursday…Expectations. Expectations are a dangerous thing…especially when it involves another individual. Yesterday I was trying to create a wonderful dining experience over lunch that would not only include a tasty meal but great ambiance at my favorite restaurant at Avila Beach. I was disappointed when my expectations were burst. It was hazy and cool. I ordered something I had never had before and it was a disappointment. Often, in life, our expectations are unspoken. Imagine what happens when I expect my husband to do some things around the house for me, without even communicating that to him. One, things may not get done. Two, I now feel let down. Why? Because he couldn’t read my mind? Unspoken expectations have the ability to destroy relationships. Life coaching is all about naming your expectations in the life coaching process.
