Thoughts from Chief Sjolander... Smiles, hugs, and thank yous... Well our 2nd annual Garage of Goodness is done. Im including some photos of what we started with, and what was left when were done. We gave away about 50% of the items we received, and I had a wonderful time watching families get items to fill needs. Watching kids and parents pick out toys, clothes, dishes, furniture, bedding, etc. made my day. Seeing smiles, hearing thank yous, and receiving hugs made my day. Watching our officers and reserve officers helping people load bags and boxes filled me with pride and reminds me why we do what we do, its for you, our public that we love. I worry so much about this event. Will we have any items donated, will we have anyone come and pick items up, will we have enough help to set up and tear down? All the work is well worth it when you see families smile and leave with items they want and need for their homes. To all of you who donated items, thank you so much. You all had a hand in helping others and we could not do this without all of you. I received a photo from a family that stopped and picked up some items. One being a dining room table and chairs. The photo was of their new table set up. The message said Thank you, we love it I hope this table brings them a lot of joy. I hope they share meals, stories, and love around this table and it reminds them of whats important... Family and memories. Stay safe, Lee
