Thoughts from Day #49: Day #49 might just be my last entry from Colombia. Today is a huge day for us. We have our appointment with the US Embassy to get Luis visa at 1:30. The appointment generally takes about two hours. From there, we have to do one last check in at Luis orphanage. We need to sign additional paperwork and the directors require us to bring Luis in to say one last goodbye. If all goes according to plan, we will leave for the airport at 9 pm, fly overnight, and get home by 11 am tomorrow. We are so close. There are so many aspects of today that I am nervous about. I am concerned about whether or not we will receive his visa today. I am dreading the orphanage visit. I am slightly terrified about flying internationally with two toddlers (one who will have had a genuinely traumatic day already). I stayed up late last night packing us up. We have enough gummy worms and Cheetos to provide sustenance to fly us to the moon and back. I feel like I have done all I can to get us home. But I am tapped out. I need some supernatural energy, patience, and strength to make it these last few miles. I ask one more time for prayers of favor today. Molly and I will be pulling all nighters tonight and so we will be needing some special grace and energy for the next 24 hours. Thank you, thank you for staying with me all the way to day #49.
