Thoughts from my journal # 29 Thank You. Dr. S. Eversley has always been a visionary. Over the years I had a front row seat observing his multiple gifts. I have seen him in the capacity of Pastor but I will not mention the VESPA. As a camper he was the Director; as a NYI member he was the District President and Regional Representative. He was the first Minister on the Barbados District to give the Title Minister to strategic officers at his Church ; Bank Hall at the time. I serve as District Youth President under his leadership he never use a pebble of discouragement . He attended council meetings and give his input always allowing us latitude.I serve on the Advisery Board when he was District Superintendent. As District Superintendent he appointed me supply Pastor to Westmoreland,a very brave thing to have done then; but his vision was beyond our time. I remember him saying to me he makes decisions that will impact the future. His influence led me to Study at Codrington Theological Seminary, CNTC, and Covington Theological Seminary. It led to a thirst of Theological studies replacing further development of History, Economics and Politics of which I had a strong foundation. I have no regrets and wish to thank Dr. Eversley for his investment in my life. Sir as history reveals it was not my life only but my seed who is also on that path. I witness Dr. Eversley plans to start Western Light. I am aware of the leadership it took to secure that plot of land; from as early as Minister Simmons time. I witness his strong faith and steady pray as he persued that property. I witness his desire to sell the Tabernacle complex and purchase the parcel of land that now house Price Mart but he was in the minority his vision was ahead of the majority. Just imagine the district owning that property he was hurt by the myopic vision of so many. But he is a very calm man. I must confess I have one thing against him; he refuse to write a book sharing his enormous wisdom with the world. He is easily one of the Caribbean icons in Churchmanship. Bishop thank you very much for your investment in the life of John Yarde and his family. I hope the thinkers at CNC are examining a fitting tribute that will be viewed by generations to come when the time is ripe. My buddy Karl King and I never discuss leadership without the mention of Dr S. Eversley. Sir you are indeed a man of God thank you very much.Just for the record , Rev.Trevor Bynoe, Rev.Delbert Edgehill, John Yarde and Dr. Winston Clarke were appointed Supply Pastors by Dr Eversley we are all still in Ministry sir what a legacy you have. Thank you Lord.
