Thoughts from my review of Miles Morales: the Ultimate Spider-Man - TopicsExpress

Thoughts from my review of Miles Morales: the Ultimate Spider-Man #8. Jump in on opinions on this one. ...The setup for this issue is pretty simple. At some point in the past, Miles Morales told his Dad that he was Spider-Man and his Dad rolled. In this issue, the prodigal father comes back and it turns out the reason he left was not because of any disappointment he had in his son. Queue the flashbacks. I really liked the art in this one. Artist David Marquez and colorist Justin Ponsor give the flashback scenes in this issue a definitive pulp feel. The art style in flashback is definitively different from the scenes in the present. The flashback scenes have a gritty and dirty feel. And the guest stars that show up are penciled well, and also given a stylistic treatment that matches the times and the back-story. The second one, a notable villain, is given a very brushed treatment with a hard pencil that makes him appear more menacing and murderous than he normally appears. And I think it is great that Miles Morales father is apparently the rapper Common. You can read the full review on my main FB page if youre interested.
