Thoughts from the bathtub: To: Lebanon Public Works From: Monica Ford Re: Stop Dine Dear city of Lebanon-Road People, I realize I have written you multiple times. I also realize that you rarely follow up on any of my suggestions. But that doesnt mean you shouldnt. I mean think of the call that I made suggesting you give free lessons on using the round about before opening it up for public transport. I think we can now all agree that it not only would have profusely benefited those who didnt know how to maneuver it, but also-those of us who did. (Seriously, it was a crap shoot if you were going to make it out of that thing in one piece for the first year.) That is why I feel it would be beneficial to revisit a conversation on the now defunct stop sign at Washington and Commercial. I mentioned in my last letter that if there happened to be an elderly woman making a left off of Commercial on to Washington, navigating the USS Roosevelt, it could be some time before I could get my turn. I sit there so long, I think about ordering food. I call Mazzios. They ask Delivery or carry out? I reply by asking how long on delivery and they respond with 25 minutes. Ok. Delivery then. I should still be here. But if an elderly woman sailing the Lucitania to the left at that intersection is bad, well it gets worse when you have a truck with a flat bed trailer full of stuff and trying to get through to that storage unit place right after you cross over. And to make matters worse--there is a Malibu in front of me that proudly proclaims STUDENT DRIVER and they have the left hand blinker on. I dont just want to order food. I start to think about decorating. Might as well hang a few pictures and put out a nice lamp. Moving in. I am not suggesting that you put the stop signs back in. (Actually, I am. But I realize if you were going to follow my advise on this, youd have done it 4 letters ago.) Instead, as a public service to citizens who will spend no less than 8% of their life waiting at that crossing, would it not be a marvelous idea to put something that might offer entertainment while we are force to wait for the Carnival Cruise ship to move. Maybe a large movie screen! Yes, thats a great idea. Perhaps I can even check off watching all of the Rocky movies from my bucket list if I happen to have a few school busses and the old lady in the Edmund Fitzgerald in front of me. Consider it. It cant hurt! Best Regards, Monica Ford
