Thoughts of #Dharma -- Inadequate knowledge of #Spirituality results in harm Satyam Bruyaat Priyam Bruyat l Na Bruyaat Satyam Apriyam ll Priyam ch NanrutamBruyat l Esh Dharma Sanatanaha ll Meaning: Always speak the truth and that which will please others; even if it is the truth, do not utter if it is unpleasant to others. To speak what pleases others and the truth, is the Sanatan Dharma. In 1942 an individual who was doing spiritual practice, became a revolutionary freedom fighter, as he could not bear to see the condition of our country. After he was caught, police questioned him about the whereabouts of his companions. Due to his inadequate study of Spirituality, he only knew that ‘Satyam Bruyaat (Always tell the truth)’, so he told the truth. He thus revealed the names of the other revolutionaries and the British caught and hanged them too. If he had studied Spirituality correctly, then he would have further understood that, ‘Priyam Bruyaat | Na Bruyaat Satyam Apriyam |’ meaning, “Speak something which everyone likes; however do not tell the truth that may hurt or harm someone”. Had he known this and implemented it then the lives of others could have been saved. – H.H.
