Thoughts...ok...many thoughts... My headset allows me to offer advice and tips throughout my Zumba Classes. I feel confident offering my own trial and error tips due to my own sloppy, careless mistakes that Ive made throughout the years which sometimes resulted in injury. I now know what not to do. I truly am passionate about advice if I take the advice myself. Experience helps. Ive lost 70 pounds safely, became AFAA Practical Certified, 20 years of group fitness experience and training, took dance lessons (tap, ballet, jazz, improvisation. ) Horse riding lessons and Shows...Dressage, Western and English. All have provided training in how to position and move my body correctly, effectively and safely. Its VERY important that your instructor show proper form; throughout the whole class. I do not claim to know everything, but many injuries can be prevented with proper positioning and movement of the body. You dont have to have a dancers body to be a dancer :) After being at Mayo Clinic I changed my mind about being a Personal one-on-one Trainer ...for now. Here is why... I saw numerous specialists, watched people in waiting rooms struggle, read results from lab work and received advice from so many medical professionals. The human body is absolutely amazing and VERY complicated. I would not feel confident, as a personal trainer, coming up with an individual plan ( that goes beyond group fitness) for someone; unless I had a whole team of medical professionals backing up my decisions and supporting my plan for that one person...preferably a team from Mayo :) I am sure there are excellent personal trainers out there...but for me personally... there would be just too much I would want to know about someone before I started an individualized program. Humbly admitting... I have to put that dream aside. I will be able to give one-on-one Private Dance/Fitness, Strenth/Toning, Stretching lessons in your home...my DVDs will be out in the Spring :) This dream will come true! However; I can feel confident giving some advice in my group fitness classes. Let me know if you experience any pain that goes beyond soreness . Please bring in a release from a medical provider if you have been under any restrictions. If you are pregnant...I need a release for you to exercise. If youve had a baby recently...I will also need a note for you to return. Please let me know if there is anything you think I should know about your health before beginning class. For example...If you cannot do squats for any reason...I can modify those for you :) Rock On! Always!
