Entering CA from NV was Hwy 395 to Hwy 4 across Ebbitts pass, I camped there a night in a campground all to myself, what a delight. The next day I headed to the coast Hwy 12 through Lodi, Fairfield, Napa, Sonoma, and Petaluma. Never once from the time I crossed the Sierras to the coast was there any relief. Bumper to bumper, pushing and shoving masses of humanity. From one city to the next it was all the same.
