Thoughts on Psalm 147 and 148: We were made to reflect our Creator and we were made to praise Him. That is why we exist. It is pleasant to give Him praise and praise is beautiful. Who established Jerusalem? Who gathers the outcasts of Israel? Who heals your broken heart and binds up your wounds? Who is able to count the stars and call each of them by name? Whose understanding is infinite? Who lifts up the humble and casts the proud to the ground? Who covers the heavens with clouds in preparation to water the grass on the mountains? Who feeds the beast and the crying young ravens? Who takes pleasure in those who fear Him and who hope in His mercy? Who keeps you secure and blesses your children? Who gives a nation peace within its borders and fills your barns with the finest wheat? Who is able to give snow, scatter the frost, cast out hail? Who can stand before His cold? Who sends out His Word and melts the ice? Who causes the wind to blow and the waters to flow? Who refrains from judging the earth until the proper time? It is the Lord God Almighty! In response to Him we give Him praise this day that He made for His glory! Praise the Lord from the heavens and the heights. Let all the angels praise Him. Let all His hosts praise Him. Let the sun, moon, stars, heavens of heaven, and waters praise Him. Praise the One who created the oceans, sea creatures, depths, fire, hail, snow, clouds, wind, mountains, hills, fruitful trees and cedars, beasts, cattle, creeping things, flying fowl, kings, people, princes, judges, young men, maidens, old men, and children. Let all praise the name of the Lord for His name alone is exalted far above the earth and sky. He is the praise of all His saints and the children of Israel, a people near to Him. May He draw you closer to Him today. Praise Him and enjoy His presence. Look at all that He has made today and praise Him. Thank Him for your life. Thank Him for your salvation through Christ. Thank Him for everlasting life. Thank Him for His Son, Jesus. Be filled with His joy.
