This is despite the fact that she holds a Ph.D, honorary or otherwise. The duration of her a degree from St. Paul’s University will not matter now. What is important is that she has a degree, and that she has decamped to TNA. This is sweet music to the ears of Jubilee Alliance faithfuls. When Wanjiru defeated Maina Kamanda in Starehe by-elections some years back, the voters perceived her as a force to be reckoned with and her influence grew by leaps and bounds. This prompted the ODM brigade to front her for the Nairobi Governor’s post which she missed out on because of lack of necessary papers. Dr. Evans Kidero was later to benefit from Wanjiru’s predicament as there was no formidable opponent to make him sweat for the ODM ticket. He won this ticket after beating Baba Yao to become Nairobi’s first Governor. Kidero was then buoyed by this win to think that he has made it in politics and that he is his own man. He became detached from the party that sponsored him and would only associate with it on the condition that he is given a position. This was not to be since the party leader insisted that everyone must fight for any vacant positions in the elections. Kidero does not only despise ODM; he is also perceived to despise his fellow luos especially when it comes to appointments. Observers say that he wants to be seen as above reproach in terms of favouring one ethnic side. He seems to have forgotten that the majority of those who voted for him are his tribesmen. Perhaps, he should learn from Uhuru and Ruto who have packed the Government with Kikuyus and Kalenjins. Kidero soon began cooperating with the Government and has come out openly calling upon those who believe in him to work with Government. His influence in Nairobi consequently hit rock bottom to see him being heckled in the famous ‘Baba while you were away rally’ held at Uhuru Park. He was then embraced by the Jubilee Alliance. However, things are beginning to get thick. The Jubilee Alliance have used him to cause divisions in ODM and now they think it is time to ditch him. If anything, the popular Wanjiru is now a learned woman, and a learned friend, having defected to TNA. Their game-plan is going according to the script. They have earnestly begun attacking his administration. Leading the attack is his fellow tribesman, Onyango Oloo and is assisted by the Kikuyu politicians like Dennis Waweru, Maina Kamanda, Bernard Mutura, George Theuri and Mwangi Gakuya among others. They claim that Kidero is always friendly to Uhuru Kenyatta only to turn to Raila Odinga when it suits him. Those are weighty words that Kidero must read well to know if he still belongs with Uhuru. His time with Jubilee is up, and he must pave way for Dr. Margaret Wanjiru. I don’t think he is needed at ODM either. Maybe the time for Kalausi Party is ripe, especially for him!
