Thoughts on a parking lot political conversation:The conversation was varied but in the end people I know seem to share many of the same beliefs but not on how to obtain the end result. In this case the conversation went to welfare and access cards. Both parties agreed there is a need , but have also stood in line behind the smoked up ,boneheads who have 3 cartons of smokes , shrimp and steak on the counter , while we buy chicken. Some reek of pot and have little or no teeth from the meth usage. We need to address our politicians and get this program restructured! I heard the thought that there is no easy fix, and not sure what we can do, however I have some suggestions . 1. Stop all subsidies for access cards. Yes it will effect everyone , the needy and the abusive, but for the last 30 years the program has gone in the wrong path for the rouge of being human and kind to others. it needs a revamp! 2. all future recipients are to be drug tested, randomly! 3. all future recipients are to be fiscally reviewed by household regularly 4. qualifying food; its time to go back to basics. Rice, beans, powdered milk , and perhaps chicken ( with a child list of qualifying food also) .5. term limits of benefits; much like unemployment if you havent worked for 2 years , and your not disabled (and even then) the simple fact is your lazy lack motivation and confidence , and need a real kick in the ass to improve yourself! 6. go back to nothing for nothing. Previous programs included publc work programs. there is not one community that does not need beautification, stream and road ways workers, and ederly/homebound community service. Unions in an effort to protect jobs have eliminated many of these programs. wage manfdates also have hurt these programs. time to bring them back. These individuals need a reason to get off the system . It should go back to what it was intended, a help system, not this excessive empowerment that gives no reason to stop living off the system. It is long past time for the people to take back their country from the liberal give me politicians. Make a statement , flood your representatives with the desire to change, and include the notation that there term will end should they not support their constituents! END WELFARE TODAY!
