Thoughts prompted by comments from friends about cars in Israel. They are very expensive. Gas prices are about 3x prices in the US. Taxes on a new vehicle approach 100% and of course theres insurance. The roads, particularly in Jerusalem were not designed for vehicular traffic. Public transportation is pretty good here, economically and ecologically. We walk short distances, take buses longer distances, take cabs when were in a hurry or carry heavy objects or for luxury and occasionally rent cars for trips outside Jerusalem.
