Thoughts to begin the New Year The tragedy of the life of an activist is that in working to clean the muck from the system, have muck all over them leaving them with deep wounds and scars and at times, even becoming the muck themselves. All they get for the heroic work they do is deep disillusionment, broken families, and questions that they ask themselves whether the sacrifice was worth it. But at this stage of my understanding, I would much rather prefer the life of that activist than the by-stander who questions, and critiques the way the work is done, the volition behind it, the anger in their heart or their methodology etc. I have also raised these questions and continue to hold some of these views towards certain kinds of activists but with a deeper understanding of the violence in society and the David versus Golliath nature of this struggle, it pains to see these kinds of questions from those who do not do the heavy lifting that is needed. As these thoughts were forming in my mind, I was wondering whether I was taking the stance of Colonel Jessup from the classic Three Good Men and am left wondering, caught between the devil and the deep sea. https://youtube/watch?v=9FnO3igOkOk
