Thr1ve, September 9 - “Where does love belong? I’ve stood at Little Big Horn and witnessed the quiet plains that at one time were roaring with cries of war and with the deafening voices of the dead. Needless and fully regrettable - that moment on June 25, 1876 - should cause us to live differently now… but sadly, some still choose aggression over wisdom. The latest ISIS brutality - meant to terrorize and strike fear in the hearts of everyone. Actual and dreadful, anyone hearing this should condemn these acts and stand immediately for what’s right… but sadly, some still choose aggression over being right with God. The recent video was both telling & trepid. A very real tragedy both physically and relationally. The leaked film of Ray Rice striking down his then fiancé in an elevator - it was all over the news outlets - uncomfortable to watch. It spoke not only of a relationship gone horribly wrong, but also of a broken world - aggression mixed with foolish abandon... I guess we all know now if we didnt before - that money cant buy wisdom, but it can enable excess... to quickly grow the seeds of anger previously planted in the heart. “...because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. James 1:20 Where does the love of God belong? Does it belong in a church building or in an elevator? Does it belong at church camp or in Iraq? Does it belong in heaven or in your heart? The answer is yes - the answer is always yes. We live in an upside down world that desperately needs the actual love of God displayed by hearts who are connected in grace to Jesus Christ. God says to love Him first and to love others second. Whatever is contrary to these 2 basic loves is upside down, its whacked and is destined to be as bright as Ray Rices NFL hopes. How we treat each other matters - why we do it matters more. Men, love your wives the same way Christ actively loves you. People, love the lost with hearts that are fully engaged by wonderful mercy. Do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him…” Colossians 3:17 Male by birth, men by choice. Herm Edwards
