Three arrested over multiple alleged armed robberies across Sydney’s inner west: Three men have been charged following investigations into multiple alleged armed robberies across Sydney’s inner west. In May 2014, a number of armed robberies occurred at licensed premises in Homebush, Petersham and Strathfield. Strike Force Drave was established by the Metropolitan Robbery Unit to investigate the incidents, which are alleged to be linked. Following extensive inquiries, officers from the Tactical Operations Unit stopped a car on Pigott Street, Dulwich Hill, about 10pm yesterday (Tuesday 3 June 2014). The occupants ran from the car; however, one was arrested a short time later on Windsor Road. The 22-year-old was taken to Newtown Police Station. A 24-year-old man was arrested about 11pm in Ashfield and also taken to Newtown Police Station. The younger man was charged with four counts of robbery whilst armed; conspiracy to commit armed robbery; armed with intent to commit indictable offence; and firearm offences. The older man was charged with robbery whilst armed with intent to commit indictable offence; possess unauthorised, unregistered and prohibited firearm. Both men were refused bail to appear at Newtown Local Court today (Wednesday 4 June 2014). A third man, aged 21, was arrested at a Lakemba home overnight and taken to Campsie Police Station where he was charged with take and drive conveyance without consent of owner. He was given conditional bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on 24 June 2014. Investigations by Strike Force Drave continue.
