Three injured after driver crashes into Petal convenience store Three people are receiving medical attention after a 77-year-old Hattiesburg man drove a small truck through a Petal convenience store at approximately 12:34 p.m. Saturday. “A small pickup driven by an elderly male went through the front door (of a convenience store) at the intersection of Fourth Avenue and South Main Street. The driver was transported to the hospital for minor injuries,” Petal Police Sgt. Mike Crawford said. “He was an elderly male, and from what he tried to tell us he was trying to hit the brake, and he ended up hitting the gas. That’s not confirmed, but it’s what we got out of him at the time.” Crawford said two women were in the store at the time of the accident: the store’s cashier and a customer, who were also transported to the hospital. “I don’t believe any of the injuries were critical,” Crawford said.
