Three injured in dog attacks - Stockton A teacher and two students have been injured after being bitten by two dogs while on a school excursion at Stockton, near Newcastle, yesterday. About 12pm, Thursday 15 August 2013, a large number of school children were on an excursion and playing on Corroba Oval, near Fullerton Street when two dogs ran onto the field. A Staffordshire Bull Terrier and a Bull Mastiff chased the children as they played with a ball. During the incident a 15-year-old boy was allegedly bitten on the thigh by the Bull Mastiff. The dog then allegedly attacked a 14-year-old girl jumping on her chest and biting her on the leg. A female teacher went to the aid of the children and shielded them from the dogs when she was also allegedly bitten on the leg. She kicked out at the dog and all the children were removed from the oval. Newcastle City Police and Council Rangers attended the scene and officers were forced to use capsicum spray to defend themselves from attack by the Bull Mastiff. Both dogs were subsequently captured and taken into the care of Council Rangers. Investigations are continuing to identify the dogs owners. The two children and teacher were treated by ambulance paramedics at the scene but did not require any further hospital treatment. Police are urging anyone with information about these incidents to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://www1.police.nsw.gov.au/.
