Three men have been charged with a number of thefts and housebreakings in the Aberdeenshire and Moray area as part of the national Operation RAC initiative. A 34-year-old man has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with a theft from a motor vehicle in the Clerkhill area of Peterhead and is due to appear at Peterhead Sheriff Court on Monday 27 January 2014. Another 34-year-old man has been charged in connection with a number of housebreakings in the town and is also due to appear at Peterhead Sheriff Court on Monday 27 January 2014. In addition, a 38-year-old man has been reported in connection with a break-in which occurred at the Factory Shop in Buckie on Sunday 26 January. He has also been charged following a break-in at Brodie Countryfare in Forres, which occurred on Sunday 19 January, and resulted in the theft of clothing valued at a low four-figure sum of money. He is due to appear at Elgin Sheriff Court on Monday 27 January. Detective Inspector Graeme Mackie said: We are continuing with our efforts to trace and bring to court anyone deemed to be involved in housebreakings and thefts in the area, as we are aware this has been a growing concern for many residents lately. Any form of housebreaking can be distressing - whether it occurs at a residential or commercial property - and we will continue to do the utmost to crack down on crime as we work under Operation RAC, which has been launched specifically to target acquisitive crime and housebreakings nationwide. I would like to take this opportunity to reassure the public that these crimes are being rigorously investigated and the ongoing work of the team demonstrates the commitment to fighting crime and ensuring the publics safety and well-being.
