Three months after the local elections the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption finally released the latest declarations of assets of mayors and city councilors. Mayors are required by law to declare their assets not later than 30 days after the election, and those whose term ended have the same obligations, too. As before, SCOOP continues with an analysis of the property of officials, this time with some new and old-new re-elected mayors. Andrej ZernovskiOne of the most frequently mentioned names before, during, and after the local elections was the name of the mayor of the Municipality of Centar, Andrej Zernovski, who after three reruns in the last election, finally got the chance to become a mayor. According to the declaration of assets that Zernovski submitted to the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption, as personal property he owns an apartment in Skopje of 120 m2 worth 150 thousand Euros, acquired by inheritance. As common property, the mayor declared another apartment in Skopje of 96 m2 worth 96 thousand Euros with a garage of 5 thousand Euros. Common property is also the land of 576 m2 in Skopje worth 350 thousand Euros. Zernovski owns a Toyota Corolla that costs around 4 thousand Euros and has a salary of nearly a thousand Euros. As children’s property, Zernovski declared four foreign currency accounts with about six thousand Euros and personally owns a savings account with 10,500 Euros. Nikola BakraceskiOhrid has also a new mayor. Aleksandar Petrovski of the opposition coalition "Alliance for the future" led by SDSM, was defeated by Nikola Bakracheski from the coalition "For better Macedonia" led by VMRO-DPMNE. In the declaration of assets submitted to the Anti-Corruption Bakracheski stated that by inheritance he owns a house of 300 m2 of Ohrid worth 210 thousand Euros. He personally owns a Passat car which costs around 14 thousand Euros and a foreign currency savings account of 15,680 Euros. The new mayor of Dojran, Borce Stamov, as parents’ property declared two apartments in Dojran of 55m2 and 52m2 but there is no information on their value. As personal property Stamov owns a 50m2 apartment in Skopje worth about 43 thousand Euros, and last year he raised a credit of about 35 thousand Euros, which should be repaid in 25 years. In the declaration of assets of the new mayor of Tetovo, Teuta Arifi, there are even five apartments! The mayor has an apartment of 90m2 in Tetovo worth 63 thousand Euros, an apartment in Skopje of 60 m2 worth about 23 thousand Euros, two other apartments in Skopje of 90 m2, each worth 45 thousand Euros and another one of 40 m2 in Skopje, registered as property of the spouse, worth 20 thousand Euros. Teuta ArifiThis year Arifi has taken a credit worth 50 thousand Euros, with repayment period of 10 years. In the declaration of assets she stated a fee as a university professor of 30 thousand denars, and as common property she owns two cars Chevrolet Captiva which costs about 17 thousand Euros and Citroen Xsara worth 7 thousand Euros. The mayor of Kisela Voda, the famous actress Biljana Belicanec Aleksic, declared to the Anti-Corruption a personally owned apartment in Skopje of 38 m2 worth about 32 thousand Euros, and as a her spouse’s property she declared a house of 285 m2 in Skopje, which is worth around 200 thousand Euros. As spouse’s property she also declared 460 m2 of land in the village of Belica worth only 45 thousand denars. She also declared a holiday house of 80m2 in the village of Belica, but it is odd that only 1,800 denars is registered as value of the house. She owns a Toyota Yaris of about 12 thousand Euros, jewelry worth about 2,500 Euros and has also a currency savings account of 10 thousand Euros. As common property, Belicanec Aleksic has paintings worth about 9,700 Euros and has several credits, two of which are of 45 thousand denars, one is about seven thousand Euros and another one around 4,800 Euros. Of the old-new mayors re-elected at the last local elections is the new leader of SDSM, Zoran Zaev, the mayor of Strumica. He declared a jointly owned real estate – a house of 400m2 in Strumica worth 300 thousand Euros, agricultural land of four hectares in the village of Murtino, Strumica, worth about 40 thousand Euros, business premises of 60m2 in Strumica worth 60 thousand Euros and an apartment in Strumica of 65 m2 worth 30 thousand Euros. Zoran ZaevZaev owns common property in shares worth around 200 thousand Euros, a demand for given loan of 70 thousand Euros and foreign currency term deposits worth 984,000 (currency not specified). His wife has term foreign currency deposits, worth nearly 153,000 (currency not specified again), as well as his children, on whose behalf he declared term foreign currency deposits worth 1,136,000 (currency not specified again). Zaev owns two vehicles, Seat Leon and Audi 6 with a total value of about 24 thousand Euros. Ivica Konevski, the mayor of Aerodrom, who won a second term to run this municipality, owns an apartment of 68m2 in Skopje of about 59 thousand Euros, and as his parents’ property he declared two other apartments, one of which is 42m2 in Ohrid, worth about 32 thousand Euros and one in Skopje of 93m2 worth nearly 100 thousand Euros. As his spouse’s property he declared a car Seat Altea worth about five thousand Euros and he has a loan of 59 thousand Euros to repay.
