Three offerings for piano classes are available in all four of my piano studios starting Friday, November 1st: 1) Praise and Worship Piano Class God has called us to be worshippers as it says in Psalms 144:1 Blessed be the LORD, my rock, Who trains my hands for war, And my fingers for battle We can do spiritual battle in the heavenlies by training our fingers to play praise and worship music. A Worship Class is where the student will learn to play piano in a Praise and Worship Band setting by learning chords and accompaniment skills. With this fast-moving and worship-focused training, the student could be playing in a band setting quickly. Quote from a Kearney Piano Mom: “Janita, I wanted to tell you that my husband and I pray over our children being worshipers...I loved what you said about your class being the next generation of worship leaders.” 2) Preschool Piano Class, ages 4 to 6 Play-a-Story is a musical journey in which you and your child travel through a storybook world. It uses the piano as its mode of travel, creating sounds, melodies, harmonies and rhythms to express the story. Students create their own musical soundtrack, learning to interpret mood, color and nuance as the story unfolds. Play-a-Story teaches this by providing a systematic and creative experience that harnesses children’s intuitive feel for music. At the early age of 4 to 6 years, students are immersed in a culture that believes that music has the power to emerge naturally from within. playastory 3) Simply Music Piano Lessons Simply Music is an Australian-developed piano program where students are playing blues, classical, accompaniment and contemporary pieces from their very first lessons. Simply Music works well with families as parents are required to attend lessons and there is a DVD that is watched at home during the week, where the whole family can join in. Playing hymns is taught, along with learning how to read contemporary worship music to play in a church band. simplymusic I have been playing piano for forty years, teaching Simply Music for ten years and traditional lessons before that time.
