Three people who were in some corner of the country, who had no two square meals to eat, who never saw water in a tap, never walked on something called road because there was none in their village, who saw more hospitals and blood transfusions than films even before they reached their young age of 23-24 but managed to reach IIM Rohtak by sheer determination and currently they are the students there. I met them in Rohtak and requested them to release my two new books, “ordinarily extraordinary” (English) and “Smart banne ke funde” (Hindi). Here are their stories He is just 26, and almost he has gone to hospital for the same number of times to have blood transfusion. He is suffering from a disease called sickle cell anaemia. This illness he got his in virsat—I mean heredity. He lost his two brothers to the same disease, one in childhood and other in 2012. His parents are also suffering from the same illness. But they have only traits which means it is not life threatening to them. What this illness means. He can’t bear stress. Can’t climb up and face altitudes and can’t involve any physical activity that exerts him. He is from hometown Nagpur and currently in your town Rohtak. He appeared for many examinations from the bed. It will not be exaggeration of I say for most of the examinations he came straight from the hospital. Because of his ill health he had to even resign from his job in Mangalore with an IT company which he joined after clearing his B tech in New Delhi. If the god had given him this destiny to suffer from this rare illness, he has given him the power to memorise anything in shorter time compared to any of us. That means he is super intelligent. When he was selected for IIM Rohtak this year, he was again taken to illness and his parents rushed him to New Delhi hospital and treated him. The reality is that people suffering from these kind of illness have not lived long. His doctors know and he knows that his life cannot be stretched too long but whatever days god has written for him, he want to be different, he want to be the co-author of his destiny along with his god and he want to live rest of his life as much as he can with his parents. Because he understands family is everything. And everything else is just a temporary relation we create. I want you people here to just pray for him, his good health and his long life. And his name is Kunal Mendhe. The next hero of mine is Rajiba Tiria also 26. Came to Rohtak less than two months ago. Belong to Harida Bahali village of Jazpur district, 100 kms from Bhubaneshwar. An unknown village in some corner of our map, people don’t even come there when there are elections, no school, no power, no roads, studied in private school run by one man, which they called school, but nobody knew it was a school. Lost his father at 7, mother 10 years later, went to a proper school which was ten kilometres away from his place. This distance for many of we metro citizens is too short and not worth mention but the distance between his house and school is occupied by a dense forest. But his perseverance made him to complete his 10th standard in that school and he finally got admission in a collage called BJB college in Bhubaneshwar where he did his 12th and B.Com. He worked there after college as a salesman with Nokia and paid his college fees and ate some food with balance money. He was told about IIM there, and wanted to appear for CAT. But there was no one to coach. Though there were coaching classes, he did not have money to pay for it. So he decided to do it on his own. So he failed few times and on third occasion he is in IIM Rohtak. My third guest is from Uttar Pradesh. Son of a small shop keeper. A student of GD Binani PG college Mirzapur and went to Banaras Hindu university to get his M Com degree. His family could not afford his rich dream of completing his post graduation. He took tuitions to pay his fees, daily food, and other expenses. At his age everyone wants to buy a bike and impress girls. But he preferred to ride his bicycle. Till he was 20 years, he pedalled his cycle for 20 kilometres everyday to attend his college. And finally he pedalled his way to IIM Rohtak. His name is Ashish Majumdar. They all were ordinary people doing extraordinary work in life, did that extraordinary effort to reach one of the top institutions of the country. These were the three students along with the “Mahent Chand Nath Yogi” released my book. Who else can be better than this? God bless those three. Some pictures after the function I addressed the intelligent audience from rohtak
