Three successful days of Nobel-Myanmar Literary Festival has come - TopicsExpress

Three successful days of Nobel-Myanmar Literary Festival has come to an end. Extremely proud and humble to be a part of it. More than 20.000 visitors. Literary talks in various places. Vibrant debates. Fully owned by Burmese writers, with contribution and committment from a wide range of artists. Publishers and bookstores packed with people, with a remarkable sale, offering hundred works by Nobel literature laureates in Burmese. Endorsed by both government and the opposition, with welcome speeches by U Aung Min (with message from the president), Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and U Khin Aung Myint. Wonderful contribution on the international sessions by Nobel Peace Prize Committee´s Gunnar Stålsett, Harald Bøckman, Thant Myint-U on U Thant, Pascal Khoo Thwe, and literary reflections by Min Ko Naing and Ko Ko Gyi. A long list of Burmese writers at the sessions in Burmese. The atmosphere was really great. I sensed a feeling of pride from the readers, writers and visitors, and finally a huge relief for the organisers. Lot´s of special moments, like when the head of security came to us, with a big smile, telling that this festival was the most visited during his 24 years service at the Theatre. Fully covered by printed and broadcast press, and even reached the front page at New Light of Myanmar, with MRTV interviewing NBC´s chairman. Also honored by the fact that People Age´s Journal, one of the most respected political magazines inside the country, and for many years edited by my dear friend Maung Wuntha (RIP), has translated and publish my brief welcome speech into Burmese, to be published in tomorrows edition. I am a big smile today. Suggestion for improvement will most certainly come up on the debrief tomorrow.
