Three weeks into Black History Month and I never go out to the movies during the month of February. The movies, TV & ads are the main contributors to the negative image that is put out for the public to see & believe. I thank God for Oprah Winfrey because I know that she can always be relied on to present a rounded picture of Blacks for us to enjoy! I actually watched one of Oprahs Master Classes about a sports figure and enjoyed listening to how he became enthralled with playing basketball. I cant tell you how many movies I have seen with negative images of my people. Can I give up the movies? I dont want to but I do in February to honour those Blacks who have given of their very best to Hollywood and have been used and slighted at almost every Oscar. Spike Lee could never have given us his greatest if wealthy Blacks had not put up the money.We are walking miracles & if we could send the message to young Blacks to reach for the stars and stay away from the meaningless bling of America we would have saved another generation of Blacks. Up mighty race!
