Three-year-old filly Tawteen could become a belated stakes winner for trainers David Hayes and Tom Dabernig after blitzing her rivals in Saturdays Telstra Phonewords Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley.Hayes and Dabernig were keen to test Tawteen in Group I company as a two-year-old but the daughter of Stratum struggled to stay sound through her initial campaigns. She was actually our number one Blue Diamond filly but she kept going shinsore and we havent been able to get our hands on her, Hayes said.Tawteen finished her two-year-old season with a win at Sandown before scoring first-up at Bendigo but produced an improved performance to score easily at her latest assignment.Jockey Stephen Baster sent Tawteen straight to the front from barrier two and the pair was never headed as the winner strode to a 3 -length success.Shes very much like Rewaaya and Gregers because shes a very fast, powerful filly, Hayes said.I knew today when she could get the rail, they would have to be pretty good to pick her up.Hayes said Tawteen would return to Moonee Valley for the Group III Champagne Stakes (1200m) on September 26.The Greg Eurell-trained Fortiche was second ahead of Pittsburgh Flyer and Pickin Time.Below is the punters report on the race.Tawteen - Led and controlled the race from the outset. Sped clear rounding the home turn and held her momentum to the line to win well.Fortiche - Raced behind the leader and briefly looked a threat rounding the home turn. However, the winner slipped clear of Fortiche at the 200 metres but the runner-up stuck to her task well.Pittsburgh Flyer - Settled third, one off the fence, before easing three-wide without cover from the 700 metres. Held ground without threatening in the straight.Pickin Time - Had two behind her at the 600 metres and her chances of winning were probably gone then. Switched the outside at the 400 metres for clear running and worked home solidly in a race that didnt pan out well for her.Berimbau - As the race turned out, she had no chance once she settled at the tail of the field but Berimbau did a good job in the second half of the race, especially over the last 150m, to hit the line strongly.London Lolly - Settled second in the breeze but was beaten on the home turn. Not sure where she goes from here after her second unplaced run this time in after a terrific two-year-old season.TABHORSEFINISHMARGINOPENMIDSTART5Tawteen15.564.812Fortiche23.316111313Pittsburgh Flyer30.85.5N/A6.510Pickin Time44.43.3N/A4.43Golconda54.726N/A319Berimbau65.218N/A2111Not A Happy Camper75.41213117Feels Like Home85.619N/A261London Lolly96.67N/A66Lady Trickster1011.120N/A318Kalabek1113.911N/A142SabatiniSC-Scratched4OccitanSC-Scratched14White House LadySC-ScratchedBrad Waters
