Three years ago today, I was in Renfrew Ontario visiting a friend. On my way home, I was going to stop in and visit my friend Arnie Abramowitz, who I had dinner with the week before on December 30th. We got together every Thursday for supper, usually at his house. We would always eat, have a rum or two and then nap while watching NCIS before I wandered home. Two peas in a pod- two best friends that shared many personal things . As I was driving home on Friday, January 6th 2012, I looked at the time- 4:05pm. I know I could drop in at Arnie and Sues and have supper- I was always welcome there. I decided, instead, to wait until tomorrow, then I could go home, get my laundry done and spend the afternoon the next day visiting. That was one of the greatest regrets I have and one of the things that guilts me to this day. I found out that that afternoon, about 4:00, Sue told arnie she was going to lay down for a nap. She left him sitting in his recliner watching TV. She awoke about 5:20 and went downstairs . Arnie wasnt sitting in his chair, but was sprawled out dead from an apparent heart attack on the bathroom floor. I always wonder, if I had just stopped in, would I have been there to save my friend? I know that that is not likely. My January 6 have been sad days since 2012.
