Three years to the day after 9-11, I found myself at Great Lakes Naval Training Center watching my soon-to-be-son-in-law graduate from boot camp. After that was completed, we went into Chicago to do the tourist thing. One of the things ya gotta see in Chicago is the Sears Tower which after 9-11 was - at that time - the tallest building on the continent. Now, after the attack, a lot of people were afraid to go into a building more than about 5 stories tall but on this third anniversary, we went all the way up to the top! After locating Wrigley Field, Soldier Field, the airports and looking at Lake Michigan, I went to the eastern side of the viewing area. I looked out to the east and muttered to myself - ok Osama, Im here, bring it! Having said that, Ill say this. I want to give a big Navy salute to all Americans who today, are sitting in a movie theatre somewhere watching The Interview! If you paid for your ticket with a credit card, Ill give ya a salute and a big thumbs up! To slightly misquote Bill Murray, we are AMERICANS! We dont back down from anybody and we dont apologize to anybody. Practically every time zone on this planet is littered with graves (many underwater!) of men and women - all better than me! - who gave it all so that we can watch or not watch any movie, tv show, commentator, musician, you name it, we want to! Every actor, musician, writer, commentator, teacher, preacher or thinker needs to be reminded of that. Hopefully in about 2 years and 26 days well have a president again who wont need reminding!
