United National Party (UNP) Parliamentarian Ravi Karunanayere was probably the most corrupted politician UNP government had so far. He is not only accused of corruption many a times but also fooled public by spending enormous amount of money on his PR campaigns. President’s Counselor Faisz Musthapa Who I believe is a minister of this UPFA govt appeared for Ravi Karunanayake. Look how the stories getting transformed? Hope you understand why no government take action against the corruption they harp of the previous rulers. Look how UNP emphasizes on corruption of the current UPFA government. Do you think they will do anything about it if they come to power? No way. Nothing will be done and they will continue to do the same. Meanwhile Ravi was well connected to Standard Chartered bank like many businessmen and encouraged them to hold hundreds of million dollars without informing same to the Central Bank. This how these banks act before big businessmen although they ask you hundreds of questions when you get small wire transfer. Raj Rajaratnam who is serving 11 year jail term for his scam through insider trading transferred these money to Ravi to buy illicit shares of a certain company here. Ideally, if Raj Rajaratnam is in jail so should be his allies like Ravi. We should not forget UPFA & UNP are not two parties but one. Both are in the same boat. What we need today is a different stream of politics. I dont know how many will realize this. Raj Rajaratnam funded LTTE heavily. Ravi Karunanayake is also a Tamil who changed his name to suit his electorate in which majority are Sinhalese. Its not only G.L Peiris or Mahinda Rajapakses that benifit from the connections they have with LTTE allies like KP & the co. It is also people like Ravi Karunanayake, Johnston Fernando and other UNP opportunists who are with the current government. They dont care what and who they deal with as long as they are benefited. Remember, UNP & UPFA are the same. They are corrupt and they thrive when their opportunity comes.
