Through most of the last year I have stayed quiet about the changes in my life. I am done. I cared for a man, in many cases like an infant, for 20 years. Dealing with M.S., Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Depression, Anxiety, Anger, Verbal and Emotional Abuse. I fought his battles with insurance companies, revenue canada, RCMP, health canada to name a few and all the while balancing my career. I moved him across country to his happy place, built a family in the new community, saved his life as he almost died from Renal Failure .. built him back up to almost a complete man to the point that he is driving again and has a good quality of life. Fought for a full pension from the RCMP and secured external funding for in home care for him. I have numerous witnesses that can back up my story .. my friends and family lived it with me. In exchange I have been lied to, cheated on, bullied, harassed, verbally and emotionally abused, kicked out of my home and now after securing a fair settlement, well below what I could have received, he continues to play his drama filled games and is refusing to pay. Back to court I go ... I am now the one that needs care. I live with Fibromyalgia and Depression. In my time of need he offers games. The lesson in all of this is still clouded in mystery to me but I do know this .. I am richer for this experience because I am surrounded by those who love me and he has employees. I would not have acted much differently as my heart only knows one way. I am likely judged by some who cant understand and I dont judge them back. I am a survivor not a loser. Life sends us lessons in so many forms but if you take anything from my story ... dream big, love yourself first and never settle. I am grateful for all that has been placed in my life .. the good, the bad and the ugly. I am blessed with love in my heart so huge it hurts. This is my story and I choose the happily ever after.
