Goldman Sachs Dodgeball Team Wins Charity Tournament 9 May 2014 Fourteen Goldman Sachs people competed in the Dodge For a Cause 2 annual charity dodgeball tournament hosted by the Junior Board of Children of Promise, NYC (CPNYC) on April 26. Eighteen teams pelted one another with rubber balls during the event, raising roughly $20,000 to benefit the children of incarcerated parents through after-school, summer camp, mentoring and mental health programs. Goldman Sachs competitors raised $3,450 for CPNYC. Marc Howland from the Investment Banking Division (IBD) hosted Dodge For a Cause 2 and led team “Taste It!” to a tournament victory. Shea Licata, Investment Management Division (IMD); Austin McLeod, Human Capital Management (HCM); Collin Meador, Merchant Banking Division (MBD); and Patrick Pakan, Finance, joined Marc on the triumphant team. “The tournament and the friendly competition were a lot of fun; and make no mistake, teams played to win!” Marc said. “Enthusiasm around Dodge For a Cause 2 was infectious. Children of Promise’s efforts motivated everyone involved to pool their networks and raise funds, making the event a huge success.” Other participants from Goldman Sachs included the “Royal Ballers,” made up of Jenn Toyzer, Katie Anderson, and Joshua Glessing from IBD. Kristina Chianese, Andrew Malin, Christian Zyla and Ethan Meyer, all from Operations, formed “The Dodgefathers.” Spencer Hardwick, IMD, and Kalima Mayo-Perez, Operations, also participated. CPNYC is a nonprofit based in Brooklyn that provides services for children of incarcerated parents to end intergenerational involvement in the criminal justice system. CPNYC offers assistance to more than 200 children of prisoners and their families each year. “It was truly heartwarming to walk into our gymnasium and see so many new and familiar faces come together to support Children of Promise, NYC and the children and families we serve,” said Sharon Content, founder and president of CPNYC. “It is through the passion and commitment of individuals who believe in our cause, like our Junior Board of Directors, that we are able to continue to break the generational cycles of incarceration and equip our children to go on to live healthy and productive lives.” -- For more information about corporate partnerships and employee giving, please contact our Director of Development, Mrs. LaToya Williams-Belfort at [email protected]
