Through the years, my stand on the matter has wavered wildly. Since i had but a year of college, a poorly attended year, thanks to the politics of the times, I stood at the very edge of the spectrum and vigorously told students that they must finish college at all costs. After seeing the little that colleges and universities provide in return for hard-earned tuition, after peeking into the sad, unfulfilled lives of college graduates, after exposure to TESDA, I have found the other end of the spectrum more sensible: today I exhort the the poor young -- and this is a poor country -- to skip college completely. You can be productive right away, taking up a college course only after realizing you need more training on the field you want. College only when you need it. .
