Throughout December, the INL-supported Honduran National Anti- Gang and kidnapping Unit (NAGU) delivered an Anti – Kidnapping and Extortion Prevention training and outreach campaign to community members living in Comayagua, Honduras. With support from the Chamber of Commerce of Comayagua, these trainings and outreach seminars were delivered to businessmen, small businesses, local police officers, university authorities, lawyers, and media companies. Such prevention activities are critical to help build trust and communication between the police and the community, while also providing citizens with the information they need to help implement personal crime prevention techniques, create awareness, and establish an information exchange between law enforcement and the community which, in turn, helps reduce crime.
