Throughout June there have been numerous rumours linking Arsenal - TopicsExpress

Throughout June there have been numerous rumours linking Arsenal to just about every professional player on the planet. Given this idle speculation, the cold reality is that we have confirmed a move for another promising youngster with an unproven resume. Given that the clubs intention was to find the right players early on, us fans have been manipulated by the management yet again. It’s wonderful that we have such a great chief executive who boldly states that we compete for the top players. June has passed and the fact remains that Arsenal are yet to sign a player of real substance to justify his ‘ambition’. Every day the press recycle the same rubbish with respect to our activity in the pursuit of ‘stellar signings’ to include Higuain, Rooney, Torres, Jovetic, Cesar, Fellaini and Williams, to name but a few. The fact that Arsenal are unable to purchase players like Cesar from the relegated QPR illustrates the familiar ‘wheeling and dealing’ style of the club. The Fellaini deal seems to have stalled due to Arsenal’s reluctance to part with £22 million for a proven Premier League player. The Higuain deal already appears to be the making of a great soap opera whereas the Rooney deal is just plain stupidity. A leopard will never change it’s spots and while the promise of fiscal freedom is paraded, Wenger has no clue how to buy established talent. In days gone by David Dein’s influence was key in finding established players but the club cannot seem to find true value in the market anymore. Several first team players are about to leave the club and yet there seems to be no real ambition to compete for the top players. The media are creating a frenzy unnecessarily to dupe us poor fans into believing the club are chasing top quality players. I expect Arsenal to do some business although it is likely to be a laboured process where the club will haggle for every penny. This will allow other clubs to gazump Arsenal and poach our main targets and we will end up with backup targets. If Wenger really has the freedom to purchase top quality talent why on earth is the club still stagnant come July? We need at least four top class players to compete with our rivals and I feel the club will let us down once again. I honestly hope that we are not battling it out with Tottenham yet again for fourth place. Give it another couple of weeks and you will see that this club is all talk and no action when it comes to real ambition. Whilst the fans will continue to pay top dollar to watch likes of Gervinho and company. The current squad is not up to the required standards set by the club and I do not trust Wenger when it comes to making the right improvements. We are looking forward to yet another failed summer and unfulfilled promises. Good luck Wenger, get your cheque book out, you penny pinching failure! JUST SOMETHING I READ TODAY -NH- GS
