Throughout history groups of people have co-opted religions for their own selfish purposes. It is easy to believe that we are fighting Satan. It is easy to believe that we are standing against ungodliness. It is easy to package everyone into a group that is ill defined by a handful of people who are justifying their own agenda by perverting scriptures from a book that billions of other people read daily without that same interpretation. Lest we forget, American slavery was justified by the use of scripture from the Bible. The Spanish Inquisition was justified by use of scripture from the Bible. The Holy Crusades were justified by scripture from the Bible. The colonial system of rule that Europeans used all around the globe was justified by supposed Biblical principles. There comes a time when we need to hear what the billions of peaceful Muslims have to say instead of the relatively small minority of violent people say in the name of Islam who have simply picked scriptures to justify their own agenda. If we refuse to do this, we have fell to the greatest threat that terrorism presents; our very minds will have been taken over by their lies and rhetoric. That is a land that is very hard to buy back and a battle that is waged in hate filled seeds planted in the very fertile ground of our collective imagination. Do not fall easily, stand your ground with logic and reason.
