Throughout history, whenever humanity finds a cross pollination of individuals working together for the esoteric evolution of musical connectivity, something amazing happens; the city surges with life. Take for example, The Kitchen or CBGB’s of New York in the early 80’s where The Ramones, Blondie, Television, The Talking Heads, Brian Eno, and many more began their careers by blurring the lines of musical individuality, inspiring each other’s creativity and recording collective collaborations. Over the past several years, your local music community has begun to band together to actively create a thriving music scene in the Jacksonville area. It’s all happening and it’s happening now. The definitive revival and the continuing growth of a thriving and cohesive art culture, supported by the local community, has become a priority for many of Jacksonville’s artists, hence ArtWalk, The Riverside Arts Market, Aurora and One Spark. People are coming together to showcase and celebrate their art. So now, I implore you to be a part, dive into the local revolution, take a flip through the catalogs of great original music, attend live music events and keep a close eye on these shining examples of downtown’s local musical evolution: Warehouse Studios, Skinny Records, Synconation, Infintesmal Records, Swagsonville, EAUF, and Breakfast Studios. Paired with venues like The Florida Theatre, Underbelly, MOCA, 1904, C.O.R.K., Bold Bean Coffee Roasters and Deep Search Records, our musical path is set for sonically fruitful nights full of limitless potential. To quote John Lennon, “A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality.”
